Willem’s 4x4 Chautauqua

…another website in the world wide web

Willem Winch’s 4x4 Chautauqua

is also an attempt to recapitulate the last 6 years of learning about off-roading and 4WDs from countless discussions in dedicated Internet forums, some light reading and of course first hand experience; nevertheless it is not the only stimulation for me to setup this website and it wouldn't explain the link to the somehow strange term “Chautauqua”.

People who have read “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance“ from Robert M. Pirsig might get the idea of a Chautauqua and these “philosophical aspects of 4W-driving” I want to address in my blog and articles here.

Pirsig’s “Art of Motorcycle Maintenance“ adopted for maintaining a 4WD to keep it on the track and moving seems to have some merits, especially if alone in remote areas; ignoring his “classical” approach will likely lead more easily to disasters.

...about 4x4 stuff, useful and not so useful gear, tools, camping equipment, first hand experience and literature, some pondering about myths and physics and more here.

Some articles might contain information you might not find elsewhere; the latter is a tough challenge.

Terracan Owners

interested in modifications and maintenance tips will find heaps of information in the dedicated Terracan section - more about fitting a steel winch bull bar, winch, tapered body lift with 4” suspension lift in the rear, LOKKA, reinforced roof rails, Engineering Certificate etc. here;

The articles in the maintenance section could be useful to keep the Terracan going and the ones in the repair section might help to fix break downs.

…and there is my garage were lot of Terracan parts - used and new - have accumulated over the years: spare parts, side steps, used or new idler arms, a genuine fuel tank …or a CADS actuator…

There is also still some space if you have some parts to offer…

Willem’s Blog

…thoughts about things that make me pondering …this might explain a little bit the unusual name 4x4 Chautauqua for the site.

I had not much time for “blogging” as I was quite busy generating the other pages - I hope this will change now and the blog will become an interesting challenge for me.
